Yes and Amen

Pastor Michael began this week reminding us that we need to base what we believe in The Word God alone. Take care not to listen to the opinions of others and allow them to become part of our belief system. We cannot base our faith in God’s Word on someone else’s experience.

James 3:1 Not many of you should become teachers, my fellow believers, because you know that we who teach will be judged more strictly.

Pastors foundation scripture this week was;

2 Cor. 1:15-20 15 Because I was confident of this, I wanted to visit you first so that you might benefit twice. 16 I wanted to visit you on my way to Macedonia and to come back to you from Macedonia, and then to have you send me on my way to Judea. 17 Was I fickle when I intended to do this? Or do I make my plans in a worldly manner so that in the same breath I say both “Yes, yes” and “No, no”?

18 But as surely as God is faithful, our message to you is not “Yes” and “No.” 19 For the Son of God, Jesus Christ, who was preached among you by us—by me and Silas[a] and Timothy—was not “Yes” and “No,” but in him it has always been “Yes.” 20 For no matter how many promises God has made, they are “Yes” in Christ. And so through him the “Amen” is spoken by us to the glory of God.

At this time Paul’s travel plans ended up changing and here he is emphasizing that we may not always be able to do the things we say but our Heaven Father is always a God of His Word. Everything He says is YES & AMEN!

v.20 speaks of God’s promises. Promises defined here as: something given, an announcement, offer, profession, a declaration, an assurance that a particular thing will happen.

Yes – indeed, a marker of strong agreement, assuredly – certain & true

Amen – firm, Faithful, Trustworthy, a formula of solemn expression of certainty, so be it

v.20 For no matter how many promises. This speaks of “all” the promises of God being Yes (certain & true) and Amen (firm, trustworthy, so be it)

The Message Bible says it this way,

v.20  For no matter how many promises God has made, they are “Yes” in Christ. And so through him the “Amen” is spoken by us to the glory of God.

We believe we have salvation that our names are written in the Lambs book of Life yet, we have never the God or the book?  We take God at His Word. His Word is His Will today & for ever!

Numbers 23:19 19 God is not a man, that he should lie; neither the son of man, that he should repent: hath he said, and shall he not do it? or hath he spoken, and shall he not make it good?

The word lie here is defined, to be proven to be lying, to disappoint, fail: vain words spoken to deceive, cause failure or disappoint.

Do it – accomplish, make happen, act with effect

Make – to rise, establish, be confirmed

(NLT) v.19 God is not a man, so he does not lie.
He is not human, so he does not change his mind.
Has he ever spoken and failed to act?
Has he ever promised and not carried it through?

Joshua 21:45 Not a single one of all the good promises the Lord had given to the family of Israel was left unfulfilled; everything he had spoken came true.

This is the same today for us because our God never Changes, He is the same yesterday, today and forever, Hallelujah!!!!!  Hebrews 13:8

Here’s  a promise for you…

Joshua 23:14 (msg)  “As you can see, I’m about to go the way we all end up going. Know this with all your heart, with everything in you, that not one detail has failed of all the good things God, your God, promised you. It has all happened. Nothing’s left undone—not so much as a word.

This Week Sunday 10/3 Pastor continues with this message of hope and a good future!!!
